Ethics Policy

Journal of Endodontics and Restorative Dentistry is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and research integrity. The journal follows internationally accepted ethical principles and publication standards, including the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

All parties involved in the publication process, including authors, reviewers, editors, editorial board members, and the publisher, are expected to act in accordance with ethical standards, transparency, confidentiality, objectivity, and academic integrity.

Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for ensuring that submitted manuscripts are original, scientifically valid, and not under consideration by another journal at the same time. All sources used in the manuscript must be cited accurately and completely. Plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, data falsification, and inappropriate image manipulation are considered serious ethical violations.

Only individuals who have made a substantial intellectual contribution to the conception, design, conduct, analysis, interpretation, or writing of the study should be listed as authors. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission. Any request for a change in authorship after submission must be justified and approved in writing by all authors. The final decision regarding authorship changes rests with the editorial office.

Authors must disclose all potential conflicts of interest, financial support, funding sources, institutional affiliations, and any other relationships that may influence the submitted work. When applicable, ethical approval, informed consent, and permissions for the use of data, images, or copyrighted material must be clearly stated in the manuscript.

For studies involving human participants, authors must confirm that the study was conducted in accordance with relevant ethical standards, including the Declaration of Helsinki. For studies involving animals, authors must comply with applicable national and international guidelines for the care and use of laboratory animals. Case reports or clinical images must include appropriate patient consent when identifiable information is presented.

Authors may be asked to provide raw data, ethical approval documents, informed consent forms, or other supporting materials when necessary, provided that this does not conflict with ethical, legal, or confidentiality requirements. If authors discover a significant error or inaccuracy in their published or submitted work, they must promptly notify the editor and cooperate in correction, retraction, or clarification procedures.

Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers play an essential role in maintaining the scientific quality and integrity of the journal. Reviewers are expected to evaluate manuscripts objectively, confidentially, constructively, and within the agreed timeframe.

Reviewers should only accept review invitations for manuscripts that fall within their area of expertise. If they have any conflict of interest, institutional relationship, personal connection, academic competition, or other circumstance that may affect their impartiality, they must decline the invitation and inform the editorial office.

All manuscripts and related materials received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not share, copy, use, or discuss unpublished material without permission from the editor. Reviewer comments should be scientific, respectful, and constructive. Personal, discriminatory, offensive, or unsupported comments are not acceptable.

Reviewers should inform the editor if they suspect plagiarism, duplicate publication, data manipulation, ethical misconduct, or any other concern related to the manuscript.

Ethical Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for ensuring a fair, objective, timely, and transparent editorial process. Manuscripts are evaluated based on their scientific merit, originality, methodological quality, ethical compliance, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s aims and scope.

Editors must act independently and impartially, without discrimination based on nationality, gender, ethnicity, religion, political opinion, institutional affiliation, academic status, or personal characteristics of the authors. Editors must protect the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and should not use unpublished information for personal advantage.

Editors are responsible for selecting appropriate reviewers, managing conflicts of interest, evaluating reviewer reports, and making editorial decisions in accordance with the journal’s policies. Final editorial decisions should be based on the scientific quality and ethical integrity of the manuscript.

Editors must take reasonable steps to investigate allegations of research or publication misconduct. When necessary, the journal may issue corrections, expressions of concern, retractions, or other appropriate notices in accordance with publication ethics guidelines.

Ethical Responsibilities of the Publisher

The publisher is responsible for supporting editorial independence, maintaining the integrity of the academic record, and ensuring the long-term accessibility and preservation of published content.

The publisher works in cooperation with the editor-in-chief and editorial board while respecting editorial independence. The publisher supports the timely publication of articles, corrections, clarifications, retractions, and other editorial notices when required.

The publisher is also responsible for ensuring that the journal’s publication policies, ethical standards, archiving practices, and access policies are clearly presented and consistently applied.
